The Essex County Economic Development Authority (EDA) gained further insight into a an $80 million mixed-use development project slated for Brays Fork during its April 27 session.
Shiree Monterio and her mother June Monterio appeared before the EDA to clear up some misconceptions about the project which is tentatively slated to go before the county’s Planning Commission for rezoning consideration in June.
Shiree Monterio is the owner and founder of 7 And M Development, LLC which is the project developer.
The property is owned by their family whose business roots in Essex County date back to 1878.
The 13-acre project is proposed to be located between the LaGrange Industrial Park and the VCU Tappahannock Hospital property just off Richmond Highway.
The proposed development — if approved — will bring a variety of housing and business opportunities here.
The EDA has adopted a letter of support for the project whose initial phase is being called “Essex Point at Mt. Clement.”
At last week’s meeting, Shiree Monterio addressed the project’s housing component.
